Besides my internship, I spent the remaining time in the studio and performing. I literally lived there. A group of my friends and I formed a group called Worth The Money. It included 3 rappers and 2 singers. We were in the studio night and day recording. I’d never done anything like it. We performed around the city of Detroit and received a little recognition. We even had our song “Go” played on WJLB (97.9). Detroit’s hottest station for hip hop and r&b. Wow, just mentioning it, gives me goose bumps. I can’t believe our record was played around the city. And of course, my voice is alllll over it! I’ll have to post that joint for you too.

These past 7 months, I’ve become one with my passions. I’m in my last semester of school and the real world in about to slap me in the face. So, please, don’t take my absence to heart. I was doing a load of things with my time. I love you Jive Mecca! Now… back to our regular programming.

The Carrie Diaries

Are you a Sex In The City guru? Well, you may not be an official one until you read the Carrie Diaries. The book will bring you up to date with the life of Carrie Bradshaw before her days as a writer living the New York City life. The author, Candace Bushnell, will take you to the small town in Connecticut where Ms. Bradshaw went to high school. The story is partly about the real life of Bushnell, but in an article in USA Today, she explains  how she enjoys going back to how her characters were formed. The book was written for teens, but she hopes to grab readers of all ages. Check it out!

Big Boi Is Back

Remember in December when I broke news of Big Boi’s new single Shine Blockas’ featuring Gucci Mane? Well, word is, the Outkast member will be releasing his album Sir Lucious Leftfoot: The Son of Chico Dusty on July 6th. Expect collaborations from Sleepy Brown, T.I and more. Although things have been a bit shakey on the album release, plans are projected to go through. Personally, I need some real hip hop in my life. This fake, impersonation ish has got to stop. So… bring it on Big Boi!

Jim Jonsin

An article from AllHipHop.com says Lil’ Wayne has been hit with a lawsuit over unpaid royalties to producer Jim Jonsin. Jonsin holds co-writing credit for Wayne’s song ‘Lollipop’ and is asking for $500,000. 

I’m sure we will be hearing more about this drama as it progresses.

Jim Jones

Harlem rapper, Jim Jones of Dipset, will be begin teaching a 6-week Business 101 course to New York high school students on Tuesday. The course, which is presented by Entertainers for Education, will take students on a ride inside the music industry. Jones will cover subjects like production, distribution, creative control over content, etc. His journey won’t end their because afterwards he off to talk to college-level students at Fordum University. Good work Jim! Teach these kids a little something about the entertainmet industry. I’m pretty sure they have no idea of what really goes on.

Vanity Fair gathered some quotes from a Lady Gaga interview in New York Magazine and called them strange. I find it hard to agree with their judgement, so I decided to post a few.

“Lady Gaga is my name. If you know me, and you call me Stephani, you don’t really know me at all.”

“I have grand pianosthat are more expensive than, like, a year’s worth of rent.”

“A year from now, I could go away, and people might say, ‘Gosh, what ever happened to that girl who never wore pants?’ But how wonderfully memorable 30 years from now, when they say, ‘Do you remember Gaga and her bubbles?’ Because, for a minute, everybody in that room will forget every sad, painful thing in their lives, and they’ll just live in my bubble world.”

Oh how I love my GaGa. She makes so much sense to me. I can’t stand when the media places these great artist in an unknown/weird category.
